Tony Kearns

Senior Deputy General Secretary

Tony has been in his current post since 2001, having formerly served the union in a wide variety of national, district and branch roles going right back to when he first joined the Post Office in Liverpool in 1978.

Tony deputises for the General Secretary when required and assists the General Secretary in financial, administrative and strategic organisational matters.

He is an active member of the Labour Party, a committed socialist and a passionate environmentalist as well.  He actively supports the Campaign Against Climate Change and backs several other causes including the fight for council housing, anti-fascism and Venezuela solidarity.

Tony represents the CWU in several of these movements and as well as having ‘red’ politics, he is also a loyal and life-long supporter of the Reds of Liverpool Football Club.
