Shock as 80 Jobs Under Threat in EE Enterprise

EE

The CWU has expressed serious concerns for our members working in the Enterprise section of EE as the company announced that up to eighty jobs are under review.

Enterprise announced today it intends to consolidate work and within EE the company is proposing to leave North Tyneside and scale back in Doxford over the next few months.

Nigel Cotgrove, CWU National Officer stated:  “This will come as a great shock and disappointment to hardworking and loyal EE staff, many of whom have long service. Our priority will be to ensure that any job losses are on a voluntary basis and to maximise both jobs and redeployment opportunities.   We will also look at other avenues to lessen job losses, such as rebalancing of workloads and control of overtime”.

As the CWU recently secured bargaining rights with EE, the Union will have a much better chance to defend as many jobs as possible. EE are legally obliged to consult with us and seek an agreement on potential job losses”

Nigel added that “This is an uncertain time for members and I would urge our EE employees who are not members to join us, as the more members we have the greater strength we have in any future consultation meetings”.
