COMMUNICATION WORKERS UNION RESPONDS TO BUDGET
March 16 2016The CWU has today responded to the Chancellor’s budget announcements.
Dave Ward CWU General Secretary said “Today’s budget is yet another example of the Tories putting a plaster over a gaping wound. Osborne’s cheap giveaways mask neither his crippling cuts nor his vain attempt to start his bid for the Tory leadership. This budget does nothing for the most vulnerable in society, nothing for the steelworkers who have lost their Industry and nothing to those who aspire to better themselves. All this from the self proclaimed Party of the working people”
Tony Kearns CWU Senior Deputy General Secretary said “Osborne’s budget is simply the continuation of the process that robs workers and the poorer in society to make the rich richer. He has missed every one of the targets he has set himself, government debt that he promised to reduce has actually increased, his ongoing obsession with austerity has been proved, by his own failures, to be wrong for the people of this country. We’ll see lower wages falling living standards while the NHS and state Education along with the rest of our public services are dismantled through underfunding, his proposed announcement that he will not borrow to invest turns all economics on its head and is the economics of the madhouse.”
