BBC customer service workers have backed an “inflation-busting” pay deal.

Capita employees working on the BBC Audience Services contract, who are members of the CWU, have accepted a pay deal by 87.2%.

Following numerous meetings with Capita, union representatives and management reached a deal which has brought all workers up to the Real Living Wage of £13.45 an hour.

Workers engaged in specialist roles received 4.3%, 3.3% for all other members, and an additional half day of annual leave (to be taken before July).

This means that the pay increase will be calculated into the June salary for workers, and will be backdated from 1st April.

For all workers, this offer equates to an improvement of 4.67%, and 3.5% for workers already on a wage higher than the Real Living Wage.

CWU National Officer Tracey Fussey said: “This inflation-busting deal could not have been achieved without the steadfastness of CWU members.

“I would like to thank everyone who participated in the ballot.”
