PFW Representatives

TERMS OF REFERENCE BETWEEN PARCELFORCE WORLDWIDE AND THE COMMUNICATION WORKERS UNION FOR THE DEPLOYMENT OF REPLACEMENT PDA’S (TC75)

Dear Colleagues

Further to the deployment of the new PDA’s that has been taking place across RML, Branches and representatives are informed that it is now anticipated that Parcelforce Worldwide will receive their replacement TC75 devices in mid to late July.

PFW are keen to introduce as many of the new PDA’s into their operation as possible prior to the Autumn Pressure Period in order to improve their competitiveness. Equally, as reported in LTB 336/17 the introduction of the PDA’s is also paramount in relation to achieving the benefits that are available via the future full deployment of the Route Excellence (REX) programme.

In order to ensure however that all operational issues are addressed prior to full deployment a Terms of Reference has been agreed with the business that enables a phased introduction of the TC75 hardware into the operation, with initial pilot activity taking place at the following PFW depots:

Week 1 – York

Week 2 – Shrewsbury

Week 3 – Gloucester, Hereford & Worcester

In order that a full determination on their use and deployment can be made the above PDA trial sites include a mixture of depots that are currently operating both with and without the REX system.

A copy of the agreed Terms of Reference for the deployment activity is attached for the information of colleagues.

Branches and representatives will note that the CWU will be involved in all aspects of the initial Deployment Plan and provision is also made in relation to future deployment, training, H&S and review activity.

Equally, the agreed principles in relation to individual data and how it can be used as contained in the existing agreement for Intermec CN3 Scanners 2011 communicated via LTB 138/11 (a copy of which is attached for your ease of reference), will continue to hold the field.

Any enquiries in relation to this LTB should be addressed to Davie Robertson, Assistant Secretary, email: dwyatt@cwu.org or shayman@cwu.org quoting reference number: 112.05.

Yours sincerely

Davie Robertson

Assistant Secretary
