JOINT STATEMENT INTER-BUSINESS TRANSFERS AND SENIORITY – PARCELFORCE WORLDWIDE
Dear Colleagues
Branches and representatives are informed that the subject of inter-business transfers from Royal Mail to PFW have been the subject of discussion between the department and the PFW for some time.
The current arrangements stipulate that where a Parcelforce employee transfers into Royal Mail their seniority is retained, however this is not applied where transfers take place in the opposite direction. The department has therefore been seeking the equalisation of arrangements in relation to retention of seniority for Royal Mail employees who transfer into Parcelforce Worldwide, in order that fairness for all is maintained.
Discussions have now culminated in the attached Joint Statement being agreed, which has been endorsed by the Postal Executive.
Branches and representatives will note that the change in policy will take effect from the 1st April 2017 and will ensure that Royal Mail colleagues transferring into Parcelforce from that date will maintain their seniority, as is applied for transfers in the opposite direction.
It has been recognised that in the interests of fairness to everybody previous transferees into PFW will regain their full seniority for all processes where it applies from the effective date above.
For clarity however there will be no retrospective application of this policy change, for example, decisions already taken on filling vacant duties, re-picks or allocation of annual leave will not be revisited.
Any enquiries in relation to this LTB should be addressed to Davie Robertson, Assistant Secretary, email: dwyatt@cwu.org or shayman@cwu.org quoting reference number: 102.10.
Yours sincerely
