LTB 721/16 – BT TSO – Internet Location Manager (ILM) Code of Practice
No. 721/2016 Ref: DJ/ML Date: 8 December 2016
TO ALL BRANCHES WITH MEMBERS IN BT
Dear Colleague
BT TSO – Internet Location Manager (ILM) Code of Practice
The TSO National Team (NT) has been working for some time to agree an updated version of the existing TSO Code of Practice. The key reason for this is that within Exchange Engineering Services (EES) team members have visibility via the ILM of where engineers on their group are working.
The implication from this however, is that people’s home addresses may be visible to the whole team. Members highlighted this is to the Union and it was raised with the company on the basis that this could be a breach of the Data Protection Act. The company accepted this and agreed to changes to the existing CoP. The key change from page 3 is reproduced below:
Line managers & TSO team members will only have visible access to current location of the vehicle at intermittent data points (not real time or historic on the day movement data) when the engineer is signed on, with the exception of when the engineer is within his/her home postcode area, when the information displayed on field schedule maps will be invisible.’
A copy of the revised Code of Practice is attached.
Any enquires from Branches regarding this LTB should be referred to my office in the first instance.
Yours sincerely
