LTB 683/19 – Royal Mail Uniform Supplier Contract Tendering Process
No. 683/2019
29th November 2019
Royal Mail Uniform Supplier Contract Tendering Process
Dear Colleagues,
Further to Letters to Branches 063.19, dated the 31st of January/19, which advised that Royal Mail has put the general uniform supplier contract (currently with the company Dimensions) up for tender.
Since issuing the LTB further meetings and dialogue have been held with the company in relation to progress and developments on the tendering process which have been cross-departmental.
On the 30th of October, confirmation was received from Royal Mail that Dimensions had retained the uniform supply contract, and that the new contract would come into force in the new financial year of Aril 2020.
Additionally, and as part of the new contract arrangements with Dimensions, the business has further confirmed that they will be looking to trial both improvements to the current garment ranges and new products and designs.
The confirmation of Dimensions retaining the uniform contract has been welcomed, as is the aspiration of Royal Mail to seek to improve and update current uniform ranges and products, which are now somewhat dated. However, we have confirmed that any such proposed changes will need to be subject to formal and agreed trials, and that such trials will need to be reviewed by the relevant Departments.
