OPENREACH Ltd – Service Delivery Patch Lead (formerly Team Supervisor) Role
The National Team (NT) have been in dialogue with the company in relation to the grading and pay rate for the new Patch Lead role. Branches will be aware from the contents of LTB 279/2019 that the company published an unagreed grade and pay rate as part of the Q&A documentation they issued. In our view this was outside both the spirit and letter of the agreements we have relating to grading matters.
The wording of the revised Q&A documentation, a copy of which is attached, has been amended to make clear that the process is not complete and the grade and rate of pay will be agreed with the CWU (see below).
What level/grade will a patch lead be?
We are in consultation with the trade unions regarding the role sizing for the new roles. The initial business assessment of the role is that it sits within the TMNE3 grading with a pay point of £33,702 plus an OTB of 10%. This remains subject to consultation and agreement with the CWU.
In addition given the fact that the pay rate published (£33,700 plus a 10% OTB) is less than the current maximum for both the OMA and Coach population, concerns were raised by our members in relation to the impact on them being appointed to the patch lead role. The NT can confirm that OMAs and Coaches will retain their C2 grade (and therefore pay, T&Cs, etc.) if they become patch leads. Should the outcome of further discussions lead to an increased rate of pay that too would be applied.
The NT believe that these safeguards should allay the concerns expressed as a result of the company’s initial actions and that OMAs and Coaches can now apply for the role in the knowledge their pay and T&Cs are secured.
Branches will be kept up-to-date with developments as the discussions regarding grading and pay progress. Branches are asked to ensure that their members are aware of the contents of this LTB and LTB 279/2019.
