LTB 266/17 – BT Technology Service and Operations (TSO) Exchange Engineering Services (EES) Power Skills Validation

No. 266/2017 Ref: DJ/LEL Date: 11 May 2017

TO ALL BRANCHES WITH MEMBERS EMPLOYED IN BT PLC

Dear Colleague,

BT Technology Service and Operations (TSO) Exchange Engineering Services (EES) Power Skills Validation

The TSO National Team (NT) was informed by the company that a wide ranging skills assessment would be taking place within Exchange Engineering Services (EES) power teams.

The reason given for this is that the company is not fully aware of all the skills the power engineers have. Therefore, the power managers will take people through a validation process. The company will, if required, pay for duplicate certificates for people. The validation should make power engineers compliant with BT’s ISIS document BT Power Policy.

The company says that this process is not about reducing the numbers of power engineers but about checking people’s competency. Buddying, coaching and training will be available for people to help them through the validation.

Attached is the briefing sent to engineers within EES.

Any enquiries from Branches regarding this LTB should be referred to my office in the first instance.

Yours sincerely,

Dave Jukes
