LTB 263/17 – Openreach – Infrastructure Delivery Multi-Skilled Jointer TMNE2 (upper pay point)

No. 263/2017 Ref: DB/LEL 10 May 2017

TO ALL BRANCHES WITH MEMBERS IN BT

Dear Colleague,

Openreach – Infrastructure Delivery Multi-Skilled Jointer TMNE2 (upper pay point)

Further to LTB 225/2017, I am now writing to set out the agreement reached with regard to the introduction of an Openreach Infrastructure Delivery Multi-Skilled Jointer TM2 role. Please find attached a letter from Openreach which sets out the basis of the agreement, the associated job description and the Openreach comms regarding this.

As Branches will be aware, the National Team (NT) has been discussing the introduction of such a role within Infrastructure Delivery (ID) for some time and, as indicated within LTB 225/2017 (re Openreach – Engineering Career Pathways), this had become a priority for us to be dealt with in the same way as we had done in BCD.

The NT believes that the introduction of this role, which attracts the same increased pay rate as that which now exists in both Openreach Service Delivery (SD) and Openreach Business and Corporate Delivery (BCD), will be welcomed by those within ID on Workforce 2020 contracts, and provides parity across the Openreach business units.

You will note from the attached letter to Davie Bowman, dated 9 May 2017, that we have now agreed a new pay point of £25,772 (to be increased in line with this year’s pay agreement) for engineers trained to complete multi-skilled jointer work within Infrastructure Delivery.

TMNE2 engineers who have the relevant skills and who are carrying out this role will be reviewed. If there are any TMNE2 engineers who have been carrying out this role, Openreach will, in line with the reviews that have taken place in both SD and BCD, look to backdate the increase to an agreed date with the CWU, based on training in this specific skill area.

The National Team recognise that these discussions have taken longer than we would have hoped, but welcome the introduction of this higher pay point and the commitments made with regards to the review and any appropriate backdating.

Finally, the National Team (NT) is continuing to press Openreach with regards to our members working within Network Solutions and this remains under urgent discussion.

Any enquires regarding this LTB should be sent to my office in the first instance.

Yours sincerely,

JULIA UPTON

On behalf of

Davie Bowman
