LTB 247/20 – POST OFFICE: CROWN OFFICE INCENTIVE SCHEME ANNUAL PAYMENT 2019/20

No. 247/2020
12th May 2020

Dear Colleagues

POST OFFICE: CROWN OFFICE INCENTIVE SCHEME ANNUAL PAYMENT 2019/20

Branches are advised we have been holding discussions with Post Office management regarding the annual bonus scheme for Crown Office members as we were mindful of the potential negative impact the Coronavirus may have on payments.

I am therefore pleased to advise we have agreed a positive method change for the calculation of the bonus payments. Our aim has been to ensure members do not suffer a financial detriment due to the Coronavirus. The bonus will be paid with May salaries.

Agreed Joint Statement outlining the revised method for calculating the bonus:

CSC Annual Bonus scheme 2019/20 – Annual Payment

We are pleased to advise you the payment for the CSC Annual Bonus scheme 2019/20 will be made with the May salaries. Full details will follow next week when your Branch Manager will provide the final results of your branch to inform you of the bonus payment you will receive in May.

We know that March was a difficult month due to the impact of the Coronavirus. Therefore the following process has been agreed in terms of the calculation of the bonus payments:

• The calculation for both the Branch Income target and the Customer Driver Score will be based upon the best results achieved either up to the end of week 48 (the end of February) or up to the end of week 52 (the end of March).

• For example:

o If your branch missed the Financial gateway of 95% of Income target as at week 48 but achieved 95% or more as at week 52, the week 52 figure will be applied for the calculation.

o If your Customer Driver Score was higher as at week 48 than at week 52, the week 48 figure will be applied for the calculation.

The approach agreed above is designed to provide colleagues with the best possible bonus payment taking fully into account the impact of the Coronavirus.

Thank you for your considerable efforts over the course of the last year.

Steve Blampied  – Head of Directly Managed Branch Network

Andy Furey  – CWU Assistant Secretary

Branches are urged to bring this Joint Statement to the attention of our Crown Office members.

The detailed results in terms of bonus payments for each Crown Office will be provided to us in the coming days and where appropriate we reserve the right to hold further discussions with the Post Office once we have analysed this data. A further LTB will follow once we receive the full breakdown of payments by Crown.

Finally, I am pleased we have an agreed way forward which ensures the best possible outcome for members’ annual bonus in these exceptional circumstances.

Yours sincerely,

Andy Furey

Assistant Secretary
