UPDATE – ACTIVITY VALUE ANALYSIS (AVA) – CATEGORY 2 DATA GATHERING IN MAIL CENTRE SUPPORT AND PRODUCTION DESIGN

Dear Colleagues

Branches will be aware that LTB 003/17 provided information in respect of how Activity Value Analysis (AVA) activity would commence, via the Joint Communication between Royal Mail and the CWU Regarding the Joint Review of Activity Value Analysis (AVA) in Processing and Admin.

In line with the processes outlined in the Joint Communication previously referred to, the JFWG is now in the process of validating base data in respect of Mail Centre Support and Production Design as covered in Category 2.

The JFWG will therefore be seeking to verify the managerial base data that has been presented to them in relation to duty structures and other hours that are used in each Unit and the tasks that are undertaken. Attached for your information in order to provide you with an overview of the data that is being gathered is a copy of the template that is due to be forwarded to all Mail Centres for completion.

The department is sure that you will understand that it is imperative that the required information is provided, that what is collated is accurate and that the document is signed off by the relevant Area Processing Representative, with the assistance of the Admin Representative where it relates to LA’s, to ensure that full CWU involvement in the process is maintained.

Branches and representatives are informed that the data gathering exercise is expected to commence in the next few days and are therefore asked to ensure that the forms are accurately completed and signed off by the APR as soon as possible.

APR input and validation in relation to this data will be invaluable in ensuring that we have the correct information to maintain a meaningful involvement in this process going forward. The JFWG have requested that the forms are completed by the 24th February 2017 and as such the department extends its thanks in anticipation of your cooperation and assistance.

All completed forms should be forwarded by management to Richard Dowling, RM Process Design Manager, in order that they may be subjected to joint analysis and review by the JFWG.

Any enquiries in relation to this LTB should be addressed to Davie Robertson, Assistant Secretary, email: dwyatt@cwu.org or shayman@cwu.org quoting reference number: 052.

Yours sincerely

Davie Robertson Andy Furey
