CAPITA TVL: FORMAL PAY CLAIM 1ST JANUARY 2020
Further to LTB 016/20 dated 10th January. A meeting was held on 22nd January with Paul Johnston, Partnership Director, Alison Roberts, Chief Operating Officer and Kirsty Holden, HR Business Partner to discuss our pay claim on behalf of our members working on the TVL contract. Andy Hopping, Postal Executive member and Lorna Pearson, Policy Advisor supported me at the meeting.
The meeting focused primarily on presenting our pay claim which enabled us to elaborate on the thinking behind the various components contained therein. The attached slides were used to support this activity and in turn this provided Capita with the opportunity to pose questions and seek clarity where required.
Given the detail and various elements contained within our pay claim, Capita TVL management were not in a position to make a formal offer as they haven’t as yet received feedback and a formal instruction from Capita Group. Whilst the pay claim date is 1st January, Capita Group’s financial year ends 31st December and their ability to formalise a pay offer is informed by a number of factors including the financial position. We pointed out this is not a new situation as the pay date has been 1st January for a number of years. Consequently, Capita TVL stated they wish to discuss the possibility of a 15 month pay agreement. Our response was we would seriously consider this if it were beneficial to our members. Capita responded by saying there would be no detriment to our members with a 15 month pay agreement.
We expressed our disappointment towards Capita TVL management for not being in a position to make a formal pay offer. We also made it clear that our members would be keen to see progress made and therefore we have an expectation that by the next meeting Capita is able to respond to our reasonable pay claim.
