MALCOLM CRAPPER – Former NEC Member and CWU Policy Advisor
It is with great sadness that we inform Branches of the untimely death of Malcolm Crapper who passed away suddenly on Saturday 23rd December 2017.
Malcolm became a member of the Post Office Engineering Union in 1980 and became active almost immediately. He held a number of Branch positions before becoming a member of the NEC of the National Communications Union in 1993 and in 2000 a CWU Policy Advisor to the then Deputy General Secretary Jeannie Drake. Following retirement Malcolm was awarded both National Honorary membership and the Gold Badge. He continued to be active on behalf of the members of the South Yorkshire Branch and will be sorely missed by members, colleagues and friends within the union and wider labour movement.
The funeral arrangements are as follows:
Date: Monday 29th January 2018
Time: 12.30pm
Venue: The North Chapel, Grenoside Crematorium, Skew Hill Lane, Grenoside, Sheffield, S35 8RZ.
The funeral will be followed by a wake at Thorncliffe Cricket Club, 89 Lound Side, Chapeltown, Sheffield , S35 2US.
The family has requested that no flowers be sent but if you wish to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society on the day please do so.
For those unable to attend donations can be made via the Alzheimer’s Society website or alternatively to John Fairest Funeral Directors, 10/56 Penistone Road North, Wadsley Bridge, Sheffield, S6 1LQ.
All our thoughts are with Malcolm’s wife Jen, family, close friends and colleagues at this very sad time.
