CWU LIVE SESSION

CHRIS WEBB INTRODUCTION

PAY

MARK SMITH (FACEBOOK) – 4.2% when inflation was 3.6% can Dave honestly say that is the best we can get?

4.2% WHEN INFLATION LAST MONTH WAS 3.6% CAN DAVE HONESTLY SAY THAT IS THE BEST WE CAN GET?

SCOTT TRACEY (FACEBOOK) Chris I am far from a union basher or I wouldn’t be in it but please put to our 2 leaders who are highly skilled at playing hide and seek, why they are not listening to their members about the pay deal, college after college saying Im voting no on the deal as it a farce!, inflation sky high the rise meets nothing!!! Year 2 and 3 should be scrapped and have a year by year deal guaranteeing inflation busting or meeting levels, and the uso …… what planet are the higher guys on?? The amount of work being done on a mon and Tuesday a body killer!!! And the amount of overtime it taking to pay to get the failed work done through the roof .., don’t get martin and dave visiting offices about the uso get em on a walk for several weeks and see this their bodies can take the punishment lets see how knackered they are come end of several weeks of graft.

Julian Cross (Facebook) Please explain why you can’t do a one year pay deal as you don’t know wha inflation will be next year or the year after.

Rob Underdown (Twitter / X) My question would be, why agree to a 3 year deal at a lower rate that would only be looked at if the rate became more favourable to Royal Mail. The 4.2 on offer is, balanced on previous deals, not acceptable given bonuses delivered to managers on the back of our hard work.

Natasha Louise Salter (Facebook) Awful deal and the fact you are endorsing it is making it worse. £22 million! Has just gone to Royal Mail managers across the country!!! They have got money they just don’t want to give it to their workers.

…..

General discussion about pay agreement.

…..

BALLOT

David James (Facebook) why isn’t the pay deal a separate pay deal?

Julian Cross (Facebook) why isn’t it 2 ballots? That’s very sneaky

…….

Discussion on whether this vote should be separate.

NEW ENTRANTS

Discussion on timeframe and commitment to new entrants.

Connor Smith (Facebook) What is the timeframe for new entrants to be equaled? I’m not waiting years to be on the same pay for doing the same job and I don’t think I am alone on that.

Discussion on levels of new entrants joining CWU and the need to improve density

Eifion Williams (Facebook). Can you please ask how many on the new contracts are CWU members?

AGENCY

Discussion on Agency levels and some members view that we won’t be able to remove them from workplaces like the big Parcel Hubs.

Dan FG (Twitter / X) There is no facts or info regarding removal of agency, so what are we voting on, faith? Get on with you..

Fact is would weather pay agency more over the short term while they erode service to manageable levels which is why the pay deal is too low…

VR

What are the new VR terms?

No chance of VR because of the amount of people leaving?

Paul Knox (Facebook) Can you tell me how VR will work, obviously on a seniority basis, will every office be given 1 or 2 staff members the opportunity?

USO

General Update for members on USO

Feedback from pilots

Mark Smith (Facebook) Deliveries are going to take the brunt of any USO change, surely the amount of vacancies you can push for deliveries to be Monday to Friday, giving them a family friendly job, any staff needed for Saturday could be done on SA.

Dominic Nicoll (Facebook) Many of us want the better weekends we were promised under the USO. When can we deploy them? It’s taking longer than was mentioned and the workload is in a mess anyway. At least get the more Saturdays off.

Gail Thomas (Facebook) My main concern is the fatigue how staff are struggling now when these duties are being implemented have they looked at the length of time out on the streets? Also older staff are feeling the strain now especially those who have done 20+ year’s, what is being done to accommodate those people who are the backbone of the company?

Dave Ogden (Facebook) My question, after years of mismanagement, and no regard for its workforce, are things REALLY going to improve, basically more work to do ie. More parcels to deliver, more customer collections, special deliveries, boxes to empty, loner travel times to duties due to congestion on roads, rewards paid to

managers, directors, shareholders when company says has no money, should have been offered at least 6-7% rise if not more, amount of fatigue we suffer and amount we have to do, still feel very undervalued im afraid, just my opinion.

Adam Gullock (Facebook) Instead of all these Q&A sessions where you cherry pick the questions at an inconvenient time to your members, why not get into the offices and talk face to face?

OTHER QUESTIONS

What about Fleet / Parcelforce / RM Engineers – are they covered by the deal?
