Dear Colleague,

BTPFS Deep Level Tunnels – TUPE Transfer to Openreach

The CWU have been informed by BTPFS that it is their intention to transfer 8 colleagues currently working in the Deep Level Tunnel control to Openreach from 01 July 2018.

The rationale given by the business is that in July 2015 when colleagues were transferred from Openreach into BTFS this was on the basis that there was integration between the engineering and control functions within the tunnel network. This was to improve the customer experience of the Facilities Management Services delivered across the BT Estates.

However, as BT are preparing to establish Openreach Ltd, the business has taken the decision that the provision of security access for Openreach should be carried from within Openreach.

We understand that the transfer of work of the BTFS DLT team to Openreach will be 01 July 2018. This will be subject to consultation with the CWU and further updates will be provided.
