BTPFS Pay Review 2018 – Final Offer

The CWU BTPFS National Team has had a number of meetings with the business regarding the 2018 Pay Review which covers all colleagues in Band 1, Tier A and B.

This year the discussions have been particularly lengthy due to a number of elements that were outstanding from 2017 Pay Review as well as the aim of the CWU BTPFS National Team to achieve a meaningful pay increase.

Final Offer

As a result of full discussions a full and final offer has been received from BTPFS as follows:

  • Hourly paid colleagues – An increase for those currently paid at £8.45 to £8.75 an hour backdated from 01 June 2018. This will involve mainly Housekeepers & Security colleagues and will be consolidated and pensionable and represents a 3.60% pay increase.
  • All other band one colleagues – BTPFS will apply performance related pay for 2018 review for all Band 1 colleagues recognising their market aligned approach and the position in pay range using the matrix below:
  • • A statement from the business on the application of the market-aligned performance pay matrix for 2018 is without prejudice to how the CWU will approach future pay negotiations for BTPFS.

  • All increases for colleagues in a pay range will be consolidated and pensionable (up to the maximum of Q4.
  • Security colleagues will receive the Q1 award for their performance rating or increase to the National Living Wage if that is greater.

  • For any colleagues where all or part of their award is above maximum of Q4, that element will be unconsolidated and non-pensionable.
  • Colleagues above their pay range, rated Good Work or Brilliant will receive an unconsolidated lump sum payment. This will be based on the Q4 percentage awarded for the4ir performance grade. See Table

Other Items

  • Call Out – an increase in the current payment from £118 to £135. A commitment by the business to further review the call out increase in the 2019 Pay Review and discuss this as part of the overall 2019 pay settlement.
  • Engineering Pay Bands – A review of engineering and related pay bands for electrical, mechanical, air conditioning and multi-skilled. This is the result of the commitment given in the 2017 Pay Review to enter into meaningful discussions on the pay band.
  • These Engineering pay band increases will be applied before application of the pay matrix for 2018 Pay Review.

In Conclusion

It is the view of the BTPFS National Team that this year’s pay discussions have been extremely difficult due to the outstanding issues from the 2017 Pay Review and the myriad of issues that we have had to address.

We believe that the pay pot has been maximized as much as possible and that this offer addresses a number of outstanding issues including engineering pay bands and call out payments.

Recommendation

The CWU BTPFS National Team believe this is the best offer that can be negotiated in this current time and we are recommending that the offer be placed before a consultative electronic ballot where we will be asking members to vote ‘YES’. wwww. cwu.org einfo@cwunews.org @cwunews. Ballot Timetable

All CWU members in BTPFS Band 1, Tier A and B, will receive an electronic ballot paper shortly.

E.ballot paper to be issued: 20 July 2018

E.ballot closes: 04 August 2018

Result of Ballot: 04 August 2018

If the offer is agreed payments and arrears to June 2018 will be made in August payroll.
