Full-time, 18 months fixed-term contract
Location: Wimbledon, South West London

Salary: £56,998 pa (£52,401 pensionable)
Start: Immediate

Experience in a trade union or membership organisation environment would be advantageous but not essential.

Experienced with documenting environments and training others as required.

About the job:

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for the union’s IT Infrastructure which consists of server, virtualisation, cloud, and physical environments along with switching, routing, networking, firewalls, and security architecture.

Skills & responsibilities:

  • Support and manage security solutions, proxy, anti-virus, and custom applications.
  • Support and manage network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches and firewalls.
  • Ensure network connectivity of all workstations and user laptops.
  • Perform equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
  • Monitor and test server and network performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform server and network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Provide guidance, support and training to members of the team.
  • Using strong technical skills that span across a breadth of technology areas to find solutions to both typical and unconventional problems.
  • Analysing root causes to ensure permanent resolution where possible
  • Taking ownership of end user issues with a strong sense of responsibility
  • Tactical decisions to implement initiatives to ‘get things done’
  • Ability to absorb complex technical information and communicate effectively at all levels to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Design and deliver effective IT policies

  • Containerisation and Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • MS SQL (ETL/Programming)
  • Azure Storage
  • Azure Migration Tools
  • N-Able’s N-Central for RMM and patching
  • MS Dynamics365 CRM
  • Powershell and/or bash
  • Zero trust security (e.g. Zscaler)
  • Linux and FOSS server management
  • Hybrid cloud (experience with more than one public/private cloud platform)
