Horrific attack hospitalises postwoman

A Lincolnshire postal worker was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery after being savaged by two out-of-control Doberman dogs while on her delivery round this morning.

In a four-hour operation, surgeons at Boston Pilgrim Hospital had to re-attach muscles and tendons and perform emergency skin grafts to the victim, Sharon Singer.

CWU national health and safety officer Dave Joyce, who led the union’s bite-back’ campaign against dangerous dogs said: “This is a horrific incident that graphically demonstrates the daily dangers that postal workers face delivering mail.

“We need stronger sentences and stiffer punishments for irresponsible owners of out-of-control dogs.

“This is the only way to protect our frontline members who are delivering a vital service to the nation.”
