LTB 347/19 – Post Office: Crown Incentive Scheme Annual Payment 2018/19

No. 347/2019

10th June 2019

Dear Colleagues

POST OFFICE: CROWN OFFICE INCENTIVE SCHEME ANNUAL PAYMENT 2018/19

Further to LTB 008/19 dated 8th January 2019 and LTB 032/19 dated 21st January. Branches will recall we reached a National Agreement with the Post Office earlier this year for a new Incentive Scheme for Crown Offices which we consider will provide our members with a better and fairer opportunity to achieve improved bonus payments. The agreement, which was overwhelmingly endorsed by our members, provides for an annual bonus payment.

The Post Office has confirmed that the end of year statistics have now been produced and the bonus payments will be made with June salaries. I am pleased to report that 87.3% of our Crowns have achieved a bonus of £500 or greater. The full outcomes are as follows:

Members will be informed of their bonus by their Branch Manager and our Representatives have details of the Crowns they represent. The attached Joint Statement has been agreed with the Post Office.

We have agreed to meet with management in the coming days to discuss what we consider to be a number of legitimate anomalies and/or exceptions where we feel a strong case can be made for enhancing the value of a particular Crown Office’s bonus. It is hoped the Post Office will review such cases and associated data accordingly with any agreed enhancements made with July salaries. Our Representatives are currently providing us with details for our analysis to support these discussions.

Finally, in view of the relatively successful operation of the new scheme, it is the agreed intention of both parties for the scheme to roll over to the 2019/20 financial year. In this regard, management have undertaken to regularly provide our members with relevant information and statistics in respect of their ongoing performance in comparison to the scheme targets. Essentially this approach will afford our members with the knowledge at any given point during the year of what their potential bonus may pay and how far they are away from the next threshold. This is designed to incentivise members to improve performance and in turn they will receive better bonus payments.

Yours sincerely
