BTPFS – CARRYING OUT ADDITIONAL TASKS

Issue No. 13/2018

ALL BRANCHES WITH BTFS MEMBERS

Dear Colleague

BTPFS – CARRYING OUT ADDITIONAL TASKS

Following a motion to the Telecoms & Financial Services Conference this year regarding Housekeepers and Grounds Maintenance members undertaking additional tasks and responsibilities over and above their job description and job standards, representation has been made to the company.

The National Team has had a series of meetings and has now agreed how this will be approached for employees working within Operations.

Attached are a copy of the joint briefing and job standards for front line roles within Operations, of which we recommend

members familiarise themselves with.

Key points of approach:

  • It is important that members understand that they should not feel that they are obliged to carry out additional tasks outside of their job standards, job description or performance goals. Any additional tasks are on a voluntary basis.
  • In order to carry out additional non-standard tasks the appropriate level of training should be given. Members should NEVER carry out a task they have not been trained to complete.
  • If members are asked to complete a task which they have not been trained to carry out, or are asked to complete an additional non-standard activity they do not wish to complete they should speak to their line manager.
  • Where Members are regularly performing additional non-standard tasks, it may in some circumstances, be appropriate for them to be moved into a different job role on a permanent basis, with a change to terms and conditions.
  • Any questions should be addressed to tfussey@cwu.org

Yours sincerely,
