Simon Sapper - National Officer
Simon joined the
then NCU in 1989 and is its longest serving National Officer -
prior to that he worked for IPMS (now Prospect) and the Anti
Apartheid Movement (now transformed into ACTSA).
He is currently responsible for CWU's relations with other unions, CWU Youth, the National Discipline Committee, General Policy Committee, strategy delivery, project management, field development and initiatives and CWU union awards. He also represents the union on/to a number of outside bodies including Liberty and Unions21.
Simon has previously filled a variety of roles including National Health & Safety Officer, Legal Services Officer, Officer to the Standing Orders Committee and Assistant Secretary (TFS) - looking after members working for BT, BT Fleet, TelerealTrillium, Monteray and many others.
Outside of the CWU, Simon is Press Complaints Commissioner, and Chair of the Standards Committee of the local authority in the area he lives, where he also serves on the Education Appeals Panel.
