Tech Mahindra pay up!
7th January 2013
The CWU's small but loyal membership in Tech Mahindra have belatedly received their performance related pay rises for 2012 following firm negotiation by the CWU which ensured that every single member received a rise.
Initially Tech Mahindra had been proposing to reward only those who had secured one of the top four performance ratings - which would have resulted in some of the members - mainly based in the North Midlands and the North East - receiving no pay increase at all in 2012.
Assistant secretary Brian Healy said:
"When a company is based abroad and their policy/ decision
makers also reside abroad, it makes negotiations more difficult to
progress - but we stuck to our guns and eventually progress was
made towards a revision of the global policy that only applies to
the ex-BT employees that we represent."
The pay rises - ranging from 3% to 0.25% and backdated to July,
with an additional lump sum covering the period from April 1 to
June 30 - were paid in December after the deal was overwhelmingly
accepted by the members affected.
Brian concludes: "Being in the CWU meant that, for this small group of members, we were able to buck Tech Mahindra's global edict on pay."
