Results look good for Yell restructuring
8th November 2011
Commenting on Yell's
interim results today (Tuesday) the Communication Workers Union is
pleased with the success being demonstrated in restructuring the
company and securing new customers despite overall revenue being
down.
Andy Kerr, CWU deputy general secretary, said: "Yell's results today are a mixed bag which shows a company in transition. We're pleased to see that real progress is being made in the restructuring of the company away from print and advertising into e-commerce and related areas. This is good news for Yell's staff both in the UK and abroad.
"Despite tough economic
times, Yell is increasing customers in its new business areas and
demonstrating growth in its new business model. We support the
active management of restructuring the company as this should
safeguard jobs for the future.
"While the headline losses for Yell are a continuation of other recent results, we believe there is a strong degree of positivity in these interim results."
