Pay boost for catering members

Royal Mail catering workers will start voting next
week on a new pay deal that has been negotiated by CWU.
Around 500 staff employed by service provider Quadrant receive
ballot papers next Monday (4 March) and the union is recommending a
Yes vote for the agreement, which pays out a cash lump sum now and
a consolidated increase from April.
Explaining the details, CWU national officer
Terry Pullinger said: "The package provides
for a cash lump sum to the equivalent of a 2 per cent increase on
all elements of pay backdated to the 1 October 2012 and up to April
2013, and a 2 per cent increase on all elements of pay from the 1
Further provisions in the agreement commit the company to a
further pay review commitment from 1October 2013 and further
negotiations to develop a new productivity scheme.
Terry continued: "Against the background of the continuing
pressure as a consequence of the general economic situation and the
financial efficiencies within Royal Mail, we believe that this
agreement is worthy of recommendation and the CWU has no hesitation
in encouraging members to vote Yes."
