Executive council vacancy

A vacancy has arisen on the CWU's Telecoms and Financial Services Executive Council (TFSE). Nominations are being sought from branches in this industrial sector to fill the vacancy, which will be put to a ballot of members in this sector in September.

The vacancy has arisen following the current postholder standing down. For this reason, the vacancy is specific to Virgin Media and the eligible candidate must be from one of the following:

  • Virgin Media
  • FUJITSU (Virgin Media contract)
  • McNicholas & cOMMEX 2000 (Virgin Media contract)

Nomination forms can be obtained on written request from the Senior Deputy General Secretary Department, by emailing sdgs@cwu.org or writing to: SDGS, 150 The Broadway, Wimbledon, SW19 1RX.

The TFSE is the lay body which oversees the industrial work of the CWU in telecoms and financial services. It is made up of 16 members, elected biannually, and is responsible for occupational and conditions of service issues for all telecommunications, information technology, financial service and related employers where the CWU is recognised.

The NEC has agreed the election timetable which is as follows:

Nominations Open: 22 August 2012
Nominations Close: 5 September 2012 (14.00)
Accept Nominations: 10 September 2012 (14.00)
Ballot Papers Despatched: 14 September 2012
Ballot Closes: 28 September 2012 (first post)
Result Announced: 28 September 2012

Election Prize Draws

In order to protect the integrity of this national election and to ensure the union is legally compliant with the relevant legislation covering such an election, election prize draws should not be conducted under any circumstances unless written authorisation has been given by the Senior Deputy General Secretary.
