CWU welcomes 600 new Santander jobs

CWU today (Thursday) welcomes Santander's healthy six month financial results and the announcement that the company is creating 600 new jobs.

Cotgrove, CWU national official representing members in
Santander, said: "The news that Santander is to create 600 new
jobs in the UK is a welcome boost for CWU members and the UK
banking sector as a whole.
"We're pleased that these new positions will be open to our members who may be facing redeployment as a result of the integration of Alliance & Leicester into the wider Bank, so extending the opportunities to stay with Santander.
"At a time when many organisations are facing cuts, it is good to see Santander investing in jobs for the future."
New jobs are expected to be created in call centre and branch functions.
CWU represents staff in Santander UK and other Santander subsidiary companies in the UK.
