CWU member to embark on charitable climb
6th February 2012
CWU member Paul Clark will set off to
conquer Africa's highest peak next month to help
underprivileged young people access higher education.
"It's the challenge of my life," says Paul, who
serves the union as branch secretary for North Wiltshire and
Gloucestershire.
"We're aiming to scale all 5,895 metres of the mighty
Mount Kilimanjaro," he explains, adding that he and a small
team of fellow volunteers are raising funds for the Compassion
Leadership Development Programme, which works to enable young
people to attend university.
"In 2006, thanks to the support of the CWU, I was able to
gain a degree in Labour Studies," says Paul.
"This gave me the chance to better myself and I want to help
others to have similar chances.
"By sponsoring our Kilimanjaro Challenge, you will help
provide funding and support for these young people from
underprivileged backgrounds to give them the opportunity of higher
education.
