A once-in-a-lifetime adventure

18th December 2012

Ever fancied yourself an adventurer or wanted to do something philanthropic? Then this ultimate rowing challenge might be just the thing for you.

This once-in-a-lifetime challenge will take place in Summer 2013 and will require participants to test their physical prowess and fitness by rowing the English Channel from Dover to Calais. The expedition will raise vital funds for AHOY centre charity which promotes social inclusion and works to improve the lives of disabled people and disadvantaged young people.

Previously four teams from BT Openreach took part in the challenge but this year AHOY is recruiting industry-wide and is on a mission to find . You can enter as a team (family, friends, colleagues) or as an individual, in which case AHOY will team you up. Don't let inexperience put you off either, AHOY will provide you with all the training you need from an experienced instructor as well as all the necessary equipment - boats, oars, lifejacket etc.

There are other events that you can take part in too - such as the Great River Race or the Meridian Pull which happen on the Thames. For more information on how you can support this worthwhile charity through water-based activities please contact Del Wiggans on 0208 6917502 or email delceta.wiggins@bt.com.
