2.5% pay offer for O2 staff recommended

Following a breakthrough in talks last week, mobile company Telefonica O2 have tabled a final and definitive pay offer which CWU negotiators will be recommending to members in a consultative ballot.

The offer includes a 2.5 per cent, fully consolidated increase, from 1st April 2013 and an additional payment on pay progression for O2 contracts Tech Spec/ T&E/ Retail A10-R and Business Support grades. As part of the deal the company has committed to a full review of retail pay grades, to reaching an agreement on amended pay progression arrangements by April 2014 and to honour the pay progression payments on the date they are due to be paid regardless of drawn out future pay discussions.

Commenting on the negotiations, CWU assistant secretary Sally Bridge said: "We've been concentrating on securing a pay increase which covers all general population grades which is fully consolidated and which recognises the contribution our members have made during the last year and we believe this deal reflects just that.

"The CWU national negotiating team has no hesitation in recommending this offer for acceptance."
