MDECs
MDEC's were
introduced in 2002 following the endorsement of the National
Address Interpretation Framework Agreement and the removal of Video
Coding from the Mail Centres. Manual Data Entry Keyers are employed
at three MDEC sites which are located in Plymouth, Stockport and
Stoke where their function is to key mail items that were/are
unable to be read automatically.
Members working in MDECs are represented by Martin Collins, Assistant Secretary who is supported at CWU HQ by his Policy Advisor Chris Bennett and two secretarial staff Alison Corbett and Dawn Altaf. Martin is also assisted by Phil Browne, Joe Malone, Pete Keenlyside from the Postal Executive.
As in all cases, your local CWU Branch or Workplace Representative should be your first port of call, as they are in a much better position to deal with local issues.
If you need to contact Headquarters. please contact Alison Corbett at acorbett@cwu.org or on 0208 971 7445.
