The Officer with responsibility for Monteray is Simon Sapper, Assistant Secretary, supported by NEC Members Colin O’Callaghan, Maria Exall, Jean Knight and Julia Upton.

Monteray provide facilities management solutions for the BT Estate.

The company is structured in to five regionally based Regional Service Providers and one central Enabling Organisation.

The CWU signed a Memorandum of Understanding in late 2001 which sets out the perimeters of our relationship with Monteray.

This has been followed up with active negotiations in each of the Regional Service Providers -
· Monteray Scotland & the North East (lead by Mitie),
· Monteray North (led by Carillion),
· Monteray South East (also led by Carillion),
· Monteray Wales & the West (led by Haden) and
· Monteray Central (led by Reliance).

The union is actively recruiting in Monteray as we build towards to formal Recognition Agreements in each of these RSPs. We already have a formal Recognition Agreement with Carillion where our Monteray membership density is most significant.

We have also been negotiating a voluntary recognition agreement with Monteray Central.  These negotiations are close to conclusion.

Three key campaigning initiatives are:

• A new recruitment campaign for cleaners, with new lower rate subscriptions for some categories of employee.  Leaflets are now available - email jthair@cwu.org to get copies sent to you. 
• Elimination of pay anomalies in among technical grades, especially in Monteray North.
• Building towards formal recognition in Monteray South West, South Wales and West London and Monteray Scotland and North East.
