Leading A Healthy Lifestyle
A healthy diet does not mean an end to indulgences, it just means choosing a variety of foods every day:
· Breads and cereals
· Fruits and vegetables, and beans or lentils.
To help prevent osteoporosis, make sure you take in enough calcium. You need about one gram of calcium per day before the menopause and up to 1.5 grams per day after the menopause, if you are not on HRT. It is best to obtain your calcium from food, but if you cannot, consider a calcium supplement.
A small amount of exercise will make a difference to your health. Simply be active for 30 minutes a day, three times a week (brisk walking is a good choice). Those 30 minutes do not have to be continuous - you can do them in two sessions of 15 minutes to receive all the health benefits.
If you are finding your stress level is too high, take steps to reduce it. Try relaxation techniques, such as meditation or yoga, pace yourself by tackling one task at a time and set time aside to do the thinks you enjoy most.
