ISBAN Policy and Benefits agreement recommended
Today the CWU has recommended a wide ranging agreement for CWU members employed by ISBAN - a Santander subsidiary. The Agreement is designed to create a common set of HR arrangements which would apply across the ISBAN operation in the UK.
The proposed Agreement covers a range of key HR policies such as discipline, grievance, sick pay, sick absence, capability and annual leave. The Agreement also updates maternity; paternity; and adoptive leave arrangements and introduces a new fostering policy.
CWU Assistant secretary, Nigel Cotgrove explains, "We believe we have secured a good Agreement that ensures our members are given a fair deal and which significantly improves sick pay arrangements. Where necessary we have also put in place arrangements to protect the interests of our members, and we have created a new sick policy that should produce a better approach to absence."
We also welcome the fact that a new fostering policy is part of the deal - this an important first among the Santander Group of companies in the UK"
The Agreement is being recommended to members in Bands 1-3 in a consultative ballot. Members in Bands 4-5 are also being kept informed of developments.
The full proposed Agreement can be viewed in the members' only section of the CWU website which can be accessed area here.

ISBAN Pay Deal recommended
The CWU is recommending a pay deal worth 3.1 per cent or more to most staff in ISBAN UK, a company that provides IT services for Santander, in a consultative ballot which opens today (Wednesday). This is the first pay deal that the CWU has reached with ISBAN since CWU members joined the Company following a TUPE transfer.
Under the terms of the proposed agreement, most members will receive 3.1 per cent or more with pay increases of between 0 per cent and 5.5 per cent dependent on performance and position in the pay ranges, while pay scales will rise 2.5 per cent. Due to the structure of the deal the lower paid will receive higher increases. 'On Call ' and 'Call Out' allowances will be the subject of a separate review and any improvements will be backdated to March.
Commenting on the proposed agreement, CWU assistant secretary Nigel Cotgrove said: "At a time of great economic uncertainty this is a good deal for our members which also boosts the position of the lower paid. The CWU's national negotiating team is recommending the offer - which is the first pay deal that ISBAN has negotiated with the CWU or indeed any union - and is urging members to vote for the agreement in the ballot".
ISBAN UK is a Santander business which provides IT development and maintenance services to the Bank. If accepted, the pay rise will be back dated to 1st March 2011.
