Dyslexia Test

Dyslexia at Work

The Disability and Special Needs Advisory Committee set up a working party that has worked very closely with Dyslexia Assessment and Consultancy (DAC), and we would like to place on record our Department's thanks to Katherine Kindersley who has offered the services of DAC throughout the process of this information being compiled.

The information sheet which accompanies the checklist is a comprehensive guide to understanding the many different strands of dyslexia that exists. We would kindly request that the information sheet is given the widest possible circulation to reps/members within your Branches. As a follow-up to the information sheet, there is also a checklist that can be forwarded on.

The checklist should be offered to any member who feels that they may have some dyslexic tendencies, whether this is in relation to reading, writing, memory or organising. It will be a valuable tool, which will give members the opportunity to explore things further, if they so wish. Once the checklist has been completed, if it suggests that there may be a link with dyslexia, the member may choose to have a DAC telephone consultation with Katherine. The cost of this initial consultation is £75.00, and whilst primarily the responsibility for meeting this cost lies with the member, we are sure that Branches will be sympathetic to possibly helping members with this payment. Bookings for a telephone consultation can be made by telephone or e-mail. For more information, visit the DAC website at www.workingwithdyslexia.com.
