Why join?

Joining a union gives you protection at work, an independent voice and access to advice, training, legal help and exclusive offers.

Whilst you may not think you need to belong to a union, we believe that everyone needs a helping hand every now and again.

CWU has experienced reps and staff who can give personalised employment advice whether you're facing a discipline or grievance case, experiencing bullying or harassment at work or find yourself in a consultation process over redundancies, office moves or changes to job descriptions.

Having a union presence in your workplace will:

  • Protect your terms and conditions of employment
  • Improve pay and job security
  • Ensure a safe working environment
  • Promote the right to representation at disciplinary or grievance interviews
  • Assist in resolving workplace issues
  • Provide individual advice for issues at work, whenever you need it, and no matter what the problem
  • Promote a discrimination free workplace
  • Ensure equal employment opportunity
  • Provide you with a support network of other people in your industry to share experience, expertise and best practice

We're trained in employment and industrial law so you can find out what your rights are when it comes to maternity, paternity and adoptive leave, flexible working and pension options. If you have an accident at work we can ensure you get the best representation and more importantly our health and safety reps are qualified to inspect premises and prevent accidents at work.
