HSE Management Standards on Work-related Stress: A Guide for Safety Representatives
The TUC has produced this guide for safety representatives to the Management Stress Standards. These are intended to help any safety representatives in any organisation where the employer is considering using them. This guide is to help union safety reps encourage their employer to work with them to implement the HSE standards on managing stress at work. The standards were launched in 2004 following extensive development and piloting. They are an effective tool to assist organisations to identify the causes of workplace stress and implement practical solutions to manage the risks.

Stress in BT - STREAM
BT's Stress Assessment and Management tool provides a means of
identifying work pressures that people are not coping with and
recommending control measures that they and their manager can put
in place. Members in BT can complete the Stream Questionnaire by
following the links on Mental Wellbeing section on the Health & Wellbeing Page on
BT's Intranet.
The CWU conducted a comprehensive, professional and independent investigation into stress and the related problems it is causing for our entire membership. The major survey, involving 20,000 CWU members provides one of the most comprehensive reports produced on the issue of work related stress. Stress is now viewed by many as the main Health and Safety issue affecting people at work. The Labour Research Department carried out the work for the union and the Survey was launched at the CWU's 2001 Annual Conference in June.
The investigation provided the basis for the union to negotiate an agreed policy on stress in businesses where we have membership representation.
