Several hundred CWU members employed in BT's managed desktop services were transferred on a TUPE basis from BT to Computacenter on 22 March 2002.
In 2009 the contract was extended but with a 40% cut in the amount BT was willing to pay. This led directly to a renegotiation of the terms and conditions of the members. Although a threatened attack on pay and pension s was averted a deal was struck which meant the loss of SDO working, an increase in the working week and a freeze on annual leave entitlement.
The Union has members who work in other parts of Computacenter and has a policy to increase membership in those areas.
