BT Retail
As the name suggests, BT Retail is
the main commercial and selling arm of BT. The Operational Unit
markets provides a range of goods and services including ADSL,
fixed telephony, payphones, mobility, operator services, alarm
systems, remote monitoring, ISDN, fault reporting & repair, and
customer complaints, alongside maintenance of the network's
local loop. The unit employs around 24,000 people.

programme

to access information on proposed changes to management style and
attendances, including a demonstration video of the 'Pick n
Mix' software. Members have the opportunity to vote in an
electronic ballot on these arrangements.
Focus on the individual functions is effected through a number of business sub-units, These include:-
BT Business
Marketing and advertising BT's range of fixed line goods.
Customer Contact Centres
This unit is BT's main call centre organisation
covering 15X, Operator Services and Directory Enquiry Services.
Payphones
Maintains the population of public call boxes and
multiphone (text) services.
RedCare
Installs and maintains alarm systems under its own brand name. New
business growth is in the remote monitoring sector.
BT Ireland
Although a unit within BT Retail, BT Ireland has a degree of
autonomy and is responsible for all of Retail and Wholesale
services in Northern Ireland with the exception of call centres.
Other units within BT Retail are BT Conferencing, Finance and
Consumer.
The Union's membership in BT Retail encompasses a range of engineering, technical, call-centre, clerical and operator skills. Our members are the public face and voice of Future BT.
The membership is serviced by a number of Officers in the Head Office Telecoms Department, reflecting the complexity and diversity of BT Retail's operations.
